The European Union has joined in as Azerbaijan celebrates the last Tuesday before spring (Ilakhir Chershenbe) on March 14.

According to tradition on the last Tuesday of the Novruz holiday, land wakes up and begins to breathe. The last Tuesday of Novruz is called “Yer Chershenbesi”(Earth Tuesday), “Ilakhır Chershenbe”(Last Tuesday) or “Torpaq Chershenbesi”(Land Tuesday), according to the Azerbaijani news agency APA. “This Tuesday evening is considered the most festive with candles on the table, dishes cooked and sweets prepared.”
Azerbaijan means the Land of Fires!
